Joaquin Cortes stamps his way through two hours of sheer Marbella magic.
Two shows back to back at the tennis courts of Puente Romano was a brave move from the Cordobes magician.
Of course he’s not that kind of magician, you know “pick a card” and all that, but works magic not with slight of hand but slight of feet, I don’t know who his cobbler is but he’s a brave man.
Now for any act to fill the Puente Romano on one night is hard enough, I can only remember a few truly sold out gigs there, the late Paco de Lucia was one of them, so to decide on two nights back to back, sounded to me like professional suicide, especially when you remember that on the first night he was up against Ricky Martin at Starlite. Well I don’t mind saying that I couldn’t have got it more wrong, two nights, two sell outs.
If you have flamenco in your soul and gypsy in your heart you will have no doubt been at one of the concerts. If you couldn’t make it then you missed two truly memorable nights.
