Marbella, 13th of August. Julio Iglesias has returned to Starlite as the only international artist whom has performed three times in a row at the Marbella festival.
This was quick to become an exclusive date located in the quarry of Marbella, and has been sold out for many weeks. Yesterday evening the King himself provided audiences with a performance filled with emotion, which had excited members of the public on their feet from start to finish.
The singer began the evening with “Amor amor”,“La gota fría” and “Galicia”, dedicated to his father. “Échame a mi la culpa” and “Mammy Blue” were among the most magical performances of the evening.
Julio Iglesias opened up to the audience with the song “La Carretera”, “You guys know me very deeply and despite of that I have been given many opportunities”, he declared to his fans.
Whilst singing “Cumparsita” Julio introduced a pair of young tango dancers whilst continuing to joke with his audiences. “I sing to continue living, I do it for no other reason”, he confessed with “Manuela”. A little later came “Me va, me va”, and on part of a completely devoted fan, the artist collected a Spanish flag that he held in his hand whilst singing “Vuela amigo”. The finale saw “La vida sigue igual”, the first song he ever wrote, followed by “Can´t help falling in love” to end a spectacular evening.
Amongst a very satisfied audience was the ex president of the government José María Aznar and Ana Botella, the Mayoress of Madrid, the Baroness Thyssen, Cari Lapique, Maria Teresa Campos and her daughter Terelu, Valeria Mazza and many more.
Tonight, Thursday the 14th of August Starlite welcomes the performance of Dani Martín, one of Spain’s most influential artists in the last 15 years, who will perform songs from his new album titled “Dani Martín”, another sold out show of Starlite 2014.
