La Campana Marbella, Mayoress Opens a New Sports Complex
The mayoress of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, accompanied by the Councillor for Works, Javier Garcia, and Paul Bramley today visited the new sports complex in La Campana, Nueva Andalucia. The area features a large parking area, a clubhouse, tennis courts, an area for basketball and paddle tennis court and outdoor gym equipment and space to play darts, table tennis or chess.
The project, which started two years ago, has been implemented in several phases, and began with the refurbishment of the tennis courts that were in state of neglect. Further works were funded by businessman Paul Bramley, who has paid 80,000 euros in addition to the 200,000 euros that the City has invested. “We transferred his interest in collaborating on a project to benefit the community,”remarked Muñoz.
The councilor stressed that with municipal financing, the sports complex project in La Campana, Nueva Andalucia has enjoyed the invaluable collaboration of entrepreneurs. Specifically, the main project funded by Paul involved the building of the new paddle tennis court, with the first artificial turf in La Campana Nueva Andalucía, and laying concrete slabs for other sports.
The mayor also thanked the support of the President of the Sports Association of Tennis Nueva Andalucia, Santiago Garcia, linked to the sport and who knows the needs of La Campana in Nueva Andalucia.
“We are very proud of this club which exudes a great environment,” concluded the Mayoress, while she explained that currently 150 youth and 50 members of Aspandem use these sport facilities.
A full official opening of the facility is now planned to include a paddle tennis tournament.
