A competition for those who believe they know wines, are tested, by renowned experts who do.

Mark Tout’s bodega styled Restaurant; ‘Love of Food’ in the heart of Nueva Andalucia was the perfect venue for Lynda Woodin and James Kayll of La Concha Wine Society’s first event – Call My Wine Bluff, and what a splendid night it was.

Wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts flocked to the restaurant to test their skills against a panel of three wine experts, all local on the Costa del Sol; Jose Villarreal Perez wine sommelier. Johnny Gates, celebrity photographer, former restaurateur and founder of online magazine, and Pancho Campo, of the Marbella Wine Academy and his Company Chard; regarded as one of the principal wine experts here in Spain.

James Kayll was the charismatic MC throughout the evening with the 3 experts each giving differing stories on the wine being tasted; each one to be believed or not, over the variety, type and country of origin of each wine. There were 3 local and international white and 3 international red wines. Points were awarded for correctly identifying each one.

On the evening there were 4 teams namely The Winos, The Drinkers, The Imbibers and The Winning Winos, consisting of many well known Marbella Society figures who wanted to pit their wits against the best.

To compliment each wine and its flavour, Mark served a medley of mouth-watering tapas.

Once the fevered competition came to a close with The Winos, the victorious team, receiving a mixed case of the wines presented on the night from James and Lynda of La Concha Wine Society. The teams were then treated to a light supper of either Cous Cous and chicken tagine or curry and rice. La Concha Wine Society’s aim is to continuously challenge the knowledge of those, who have an unbridled and all-consuming passion for wine; – they certainly succeeded that night.

CALL MY WINE BLUFF is not only a great event at restaurants for individuals alike but also for all corporate or indeed private events and social clubs.
