Marbella Rain Fails To Dampen Irish Spirits.
With Easter and Paddies Day falling on the same weekend it was inevitable that the rains would come and try to dampen the annual Paddies Day shenanegans in the Marbella Port.
Unfortunatley for the rain gods, who had completley underestimated the Irish spirit, the event went on as planned, and as any Irishman will tell you, if you are wet on the inside (with Guinness of course) then you may as well be wet on the outside.
The sun did poke out from the clouds just after the Mayor had left, clearly a Partido Popular sun, just in time for the entertainment to begin. Marbella newbie Terry Shaughnessy lead singer and songwriter with The Universal stole the show with an hour of self penned numbers and the odd cover, nice to see some real talent on the coast at last instead of the usual karaokie wannabees singing to backing tracks.
Tom Jennings from the Golfer Bar, who puts his heart and soul into organising this event was supported in supplying lashings of the black stuff by the Claddagh and The Hogan Stand.
Next year of course without the Easter clash the weather should be again more Spanish and a little less Irish.
