The Marbella Town Council commits to renovation of Antonio Banderas square in Puerto Banús
The Town Council of Marbella has just put a project out to tender aimed at renovating the image of this location, but also with the idea of re-launching it as a meeting point and recreational area.
The Town Council wants the square to become more than just a walkway and is putting a project out to tender that will transform it into a more welcoming environment, committed to the reactivation of this area as a new space «for people to enjoy, not just for walking through, but as somewhere that is charming and inviting and makes people want to remain within it », said the municipal councillor for public works, Javier García.
In order to do so, it was thought firstly to provide the square with more shade, to make a visit to it more amenable, particularly during the summer months.
The project includes the construction of a large central pergola consisting of two arms that will connect to the existing perimeter structures, reinforcing the north-south side of the square. It will also consist of a rolled steel structure and crosspieces, finished in pine wood.
In addition, the project provides for the creation of structures connected to the main body, placed in such a way that due to their location, design and height they complete the shaded areas.
