Nile Rodgers, that musical legend from the Big Apple, took Marbella by storm for the second time at the Hotel Puente Romano this weekend.
To say that this man is a musical genius would be an understatement, and when you realise how many huge hits this New yorker has penned you will see why. Had he been British he would have been Sir Niles for many years.
Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Everybody Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, My Forbidden Lover, and Good Times were among the massive hits from the Chic catalogue. I doubt in the whole evening there wasn’t a single song that the 1,500 strong crowd didn’t know, which of course resulted in much dancing and gyrating 70’s style in front of the VIP section and their bubbly.
Giles “Danger” Brown, Talk Radio Europe presenter and Journalist, tells me “Easily one of the best performers I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen more than a few in Marbella, trust me!” and from David Giles promoter for Rock Lounge “easily the best party band in the world”, and I have to agree whole heartily.
